Make a claim about how the excerpt illustrates the first overarching principle
Write a blended quote that includes evidence of the first principle
Explain how/why the evidence illustrates the first principle
Transition and make a claim about how the excerpt illustrates the second principle
Write a blended quote that includes evidence of the second principle

End the paragraph with a consideration of how the excerpt illustrates Equiano’s concern for
abolishing slavery and recognizing the enslaved as human beings deserving of rights and
fairness.
The Excerpt:

Why, or why not?

Introduction -Valuable leaders of customer service departments know how to motivate and monitor CSRs, as well as how to resolve conflicts that inevitably arise in any organization.” These leadership and management skills often come with experience, but not without careful self-reflection to identify and capitalize one’s strengths.
Then write a one-page (12-point font; double-spaced) reflection paper in which you address the following questions:
According to the results of your Leadership Strengths Questionnaire, are you an Implementer, Innovator, Encourager, Analytic, or Mediator? Did these results surprise you? Why, or why not?
In what ways do you think this strength would put you at an advantage as a manager of Customer Service Representatives (CSRs)?
In what category did you score lowest on the questionnaire? Is this what you expected? Why, or why not?
What barriers are standing in your way of developing strengths in this area? How might you overcome them?
As a new manager, how would you use the results of the Leadership Strengths Questionnaire to set measurable standards for the CSRs you supervise?

When writing an essay you want to make sure you have a strong thesis statement, a good introduction, as well as a conclusion; and plenty of evidence to back up and prove your points.

In the decades following the War of Independence, many Americans, in both the North and the South, assumed that slavery in the United States would slowly die out. It was already clear that slavery was becoming economically less viable parts of the South, and that trend was expected to continue. The advent of large-scale cotton cultivation in the early nineteenth century, however, changed everything. Assess the impact of large-scale cotton cultivation on the institution of slavery. What connections can you draw between cotton and the expansion of slavery? Between cotton and the territorial expansion of the United States?
Be sure to use plenty of specific facts, names, dates, and/or accomplishments, to bolster your arguments. What does it mean to have half of an entire population eliminated and wiped out?

In a research paper proposal, students write a paragraph telling me not only the topic they are interested in researching but also what questions and information they are hoping to find answers to while doing their research. A research proposal helps students start to narrow their thinking down and strategize their approach to researching their subject. Below is an example I use for another course I teach — WST 2010, “Women in the World.”
If a student was interested in the general topic of women and son preference, they might write a proposal that looked like this:
I was surprised when reading, The Penguin Atlas of Women and learning about the issue of son preference. I would like to research this phenomenon and write a paper comparing China and India. One question I would like answers to is just how prevalent forced sterilization is in both of these countries. What kind of affect does preferring sons over daughters have on young girls who grow up in these countries? Another question I’m curious about is what do economists have to say about this. What does it mean to have half of an entire population eliminated and wiped out? How do these societies intend to reproduce themselves without many women?
Also, please let me know what, if any, possible sources you have located so far as well. You can simply list the book or article title in MLA format. The sooner students have identified topics and sources, the easier it is for them to begin working on their projects and for me to guide and assist you with your work.

When it came to working for the british army, lord dunmore’s 1775 proclamation in virgina, granted freedom after the war to the slaves of patriot masters if they deserted them and worked for the british.

Optional Extra Credit: Black Loyalists
During the American Revolution Blacks served on both sides of the conflict. When it came to working for the British army, Lord Dunmore’s 1775 proclamation in Virgina, granted freedom after the war to the slaves of Patriot masters if they deserted them and worked for the British. Two years later, in 1777, Washington and the Continental Congress finally approved the use of “free blacks” and slaves who had their master’s permission to serve in the Continental army.
Embedded below is a link to an archive on the experiences of Black Loyalists during the war. For extra credit, please go to this website and explore any area of interest to you. The menu is on the left hand side of the screen. You can check out the stories of individual people or significant historical events. After spending time on the site and reviewing a topic of interest to you write a summary of what you found there. Your summary needs to be at least 300 words.
